183 Sunsets Over Georgian Bay was created between the summer and winter solstices of 2023. Using a custom-built pinhole camera and light-sensitive black-and-white photographic paper, the work brings 183 days of changing light into a single exposure.

Each arc traces the sun’s daily path across the sky as the seasons progress toward the shortest day of the year. Interruptions in these lines reveal periods of cloud cover. The unexpected colours emerge from the photographic paper’s response to prolonged exposure and environmental conditions.

Solargraphy turns time into visible structure. The photograph does not describe a single instant. It records weather, season, light, and planetary motion as one accumulated event.
